Thanks for stopping by — I’m Kelly, founder of Cuir Gear and a long-time member of Portland’s LGBTQIA2S+ community. My connection to leather and community service runs deep.
It all started in the early ’90s when I earned the titles of Mr. Portland Leather 1992 and Mr. NLA Portland 1994, founding the men’s group CHAPS to promote education and safer S/M practices during the height of the HIV/AIDS crisis. Over the years, I’ve worked with organizations like the Cascade AIDS Project, helped launch Steam Portland as its general manager, and later founded PDX Jacks — all focused on creating safe, welcoming spaces for men to explore, connect, and learn.
Cuir (the French word for “leather”) grew naturally from that same spirit. I began making gear for myself during my title years, and demand quickly spread through the community. Today, I specialize in custom-fit harnesses, playroom gear, and accessories — each piece handmade and tailored to the wearer.
Every build starts with a one-on-one consultation to choose the right design, fit, and hardware. Once your main pieces are cut and assembled, you’ll come back to the studio so I can finish the fit directly on you — ensuring a perfect result every time.
After years of working from home, Cuir Gear now operates out of two dedicated commercial studios. It’s a space built for creativity, craftsmanship, and community — and I’d love for you to stop by and see it.
Kelly 🖤
